That time where my baby surprised the heck out of me

So before I start, know this: Emilia is always and forever going to be my baby. Even when she's 8 and has an attitude to rival Julian's. Even when she's 16 and driving and dating. Even when she's 25 and doing amazing things with her life.

My baby, my twenty-something-month-old baby, is an escape artist. It started with the pack and play at my mom's house. She can scale the side of that thing like she's Spider-Man. I had hope that the crib would be too much for her, however I was delusional.
She did that within 25 seconds of being in her crib for the first time in five and a half weeks.

We did the unexpected and tore down her crib. It was a drop side that didn't turn into a toddler bed (I suspect because of the drawer underneath). I found a toddler bed on CL and purchased it yesterday. It has some minor cosmetic work to be done (read: gold spray paint) before I can assemble it and put it in her room.

Last night was the first night of her sleeping free. It took her a few minutes to find a comfortable place to sleep, but ultimately she found it. On the floor. Right next to her bed.

This is where she surprised me. Not only did she fall asleep on her own she slept! And she slept until 8:30! She's amazing and growing so fast. I can't believe in a few months we will be celebrating her second birthday.

So we have this little, tiny bathroom.

It is small. And funnily colored.

I just cannot figure out what it wants to be. The color is an off latte? It's not a bad color. It's just terribly hard to coordinate with. Add in the navy (yes navy!) tiled floor and it is a right disaster. So I'm thinking next up on my decorating spree is the baby bathroom. (Oh and did I mention it's the guest bathroom? The one on the main floor that everyone uses? Oh yeah, it is).

This is the view from the door.
And this is the view for the closet. It's TINY!
The tile, like I mentioned earlier is navy. We won't be changing that. Paint color? Since it's so small, that's definitely a possibility.

I have a couple of thoughts running through my head. My ideas are probably terrible. The ideas from my friends, however, genius!

My idea:
A sort of icy blue-white wall. White frame around the mirror (would crown moulding work?!) keep the rug and towels we have.
Ice rink blue. This is the shade I was thinking of! And it has a cute name.

Brooke suggested black frames, black mirror frame. She likes the icy blue paint.

Ambers idea (she's a decor genius so her idea is probably my best bet!)
Peacock. (For those that don't know I ❤️ Peacocks)
Tealy wall color, peacock photos for decor,

So what do you think? Ice rink? White accessories? Ice rink and black accessories? Peacock? Or something else! This house, man.

Nursery decor

So I get it. Emilia, well, she's not really a *baby* any more. I mean she walk, talks (her own language) and wrestles her brothers. She comes over for uncoaxed hugs and kisses. And I'm just finishing up her nursery. Is it weird or acceptable to hang newborn photos in a one year olds room? I have so many of her and many that for perfectly within the theme of her room and even use fabric from her bedding, her furry wall hanging. They'll fit in decor wise, but is that weird? I finally found a rug for her room. $29 at Walmart?! I never really go there so I was super surprised to find the perfect rug there! I just happened to have some extra money from a session this weekend so it was perfect!

So my question:
Newborn photos in a nursery.
Yes or No
Circle one. Or comment.

Design inspired

You know how sometimes you live somewhere and despite your best efforts it doesn't do it for you? That's my bedroom. I love the pieces that make up my bedroom so much, individually. My appletini bed bakes me swoon. I simply adore the girly ikea lampshades. And I love the functionality of our ikea dresser and nightstands. My DIY art makes me proud and feel frugal but instead of feeling like one cohesive space it feels random and jumbled. Until now.
I was given a desk and with the prospect of this desk I have been inspired to finish my bedroom. I'll be like a real like grown up not some messy teenager.
The desk is a work in progress but I promise you it will be awesome. And perfect. And so much better than the janky ikea wannabe desk we got at target last summer. I have big plans for that desk And my bedroom.

My Bedroom DIY Art!

So you know when you're looking at a catalog or magazine, and it hits you, like "THAT is exactly what I need for ______." Yeah that happened to me. Twice. Once while perusing the Land of Nod Catalog. I found the most perfect art for my bedroom. It was in a little girl's room, a page I normally would have skipped right over due to the fact that the only uterus in our house was mine. But since Emilia was born I'm looking more and more at the little girl's sections and rooms, slowly retraining my brain to not instantly reject all things pink. Our bedroom is plain. It's painted a glorious color, it has amazing cathedral ceilings, and my bed is the perfect shade of appletini. Aside from that though? We don't have much going for it. I've been wanting art for above my bed since we moved here. Nothing ever felt right. Until that fateful night I was reading LON. Untitled I thought. Hey. I can make that. Certainly for much less than they're charging. And then I didn't. For a long time. Like three weeks or something. And then after Christmas, I was thrifting (which by the way, is my new most favorite thing to do!!) and found the perfect frames, there were two. I was also reading Elle decor and stumbled across something else that would work, and inspired the phrase. My bedroom art Seize The Day! Carpe Diem! Perfect! So I found these frames at Goodwill for $3 each (ouch, hefty price tag!) My bedroom art (say hi to little Emilia in the background :) ) The Before...yeah not so much my style My bedroom art Wrapping the 'canvas' with newspaper! My bedroom art Painting My bedroom art My bedroom art And note to self. Do not leave paint brush with paint and completed project in anywhere a 2 year old could POSSIBLY reach. Just don't. And hung! (Seriously these have been done for like 4 weeks. Someone else isn't super good at doing things when they're finished...) :D I love it. Cheesy? A little bit. But I plan on hanging some pictures of Europe, hopefully tall skinny pictures next to the frames, or maybe something else entirely. For now though, I'm more than satisfied with my $6 art. Wayyyyy better than nothing! :)
