Whole 30. Or something.

I'm sure you've heard of the whole 30. I know tons of people that have done one, two or more. I have decided that for the month of August I will embark on this adventure.

No grains.
No dairy.
No sugar (added, fruits are ok). Or artificial sweeteners.
No legumes.
No soy!

I'm sure there's more, these are just the basic gist. It's paleo, but only for 30 days. My best friend said she had a lot of changes in inflammation during the 30 days. Some people lose weight. (I doubt that'll happen for me. My body will probably go into shock!) some people just feel better eliminating those things from their diets and lives. We will see if I report any changes. I'm only posting about it here to keep myself accountable. Thirty days. I can do it. I spent a small fortune at costco to prepare. I plan on posting my food journal daily. I see lots of eggs and white potato for breakfast. (Delish!) and fish for dinner.

The past week I tried to eat as whole as I could without changing everything and while at home was successful.

The true test comes when out in public. We will see how well I fare over the month of August.

Wish me luck.

That time where my baby surprised the heck out of me

So before I start, know this: Emilia is always and forever going to be my baby. Even when she's 8 and has an attitude to rival Julian's. Even when she's 16 and driving and dating. Even when she's 25 and doing amazing things with her life.

My baby, my twenty-something-month-old baby, is an escape artist. It started with the pack and play at my mom's house. She can scale the side of that thing like she's Spider-Man. I had hope that the crib would be too much for her, however I was delusional.
She did that within 25 seconds of being in her crib for the first time in five and a half weeks.

We did the unexpected and tore down her crib. It was a drop side that didn't turn into a toddler bed (I suspect because of the drawer underneath). I found a toddler bed on CL and purchased it yesterday. It has some minor cosmetic work to be done (read: gold spray paint) before I can assemble it and put it in her room.

Last night was the first night of her sleeping free. It took her a few minutes to find a comfortable place to sleep, but ultimately she found it. On the floor. Right next to her bed.

This is where she surprised me. Not only did she fall asleep on her own she slept! And she slept until 8:30! She's amazing and growing so fast. I can't believe in a few months we will be celebrating her second birthday.

Long time coming

Have you ever loved something, a dress, some shorts, a pair of pants or top so much that you bought it even though it wasn't the most flattering thing? Ya know maybe it'll fit when I lose those last 5 lbs. it kinda fits, maybe some spanx will help.

About 3 years ago I was in Tacoma with my best friend, Carly. I had never been to h&m so duh, we went. I found this dress that I just loved so much. And it was h&m so cheap. The only problem? They didn't have my size. So I did what any self respecting woman would do...bought the smaller size. I COULD wear it, sure there were lumps where there shouldn't be and it did nothing for my figure but hey I loved it and it was something ridiculous like $14.95.

I've lost about 18 pounds since December. That translates to 2-3 sizes depending on which clothing brand you ask. I'm 2.4 lbs away from my goal weight and now focusing on toning my muscles and body.

Today, I tried on that h&m dress that I loved so much. Today, it fit. Today, despite poor food choices this weekend (hey family is town, that never happens!!) I am happy with the progress I have made on this journey towards fit.
